Hot pressed redemption

So back at Swich. Yeah, this is basically a blog about them, I guess. When I get into a place, I’m ALL IN.

Just take Bubbies ice cream in Hawaii for example. It was a daily venture for their mochi ice cream.

Also, with a new baby, I’m a little constricted with my time & distance. Good thing nearby is food sanctuary. There is a God!

Since I’m already a fan of Swich’s pies & puddings, it was time to see if there could be redemption for their hot pressed sandwiches.

I have had the Seoul beef sandwich before and was disappointed so naturally I was hopeful for a pleasant turn of events.

This time it was the ham & cheese sandwich, which we paired with the tomato soup. The food came piping hot, which counts major for me.

The sandwich was made with thick pieces of white bread, like Texas toast. Grilled to a sweet crisp, the ham and cheese was a nice complement to its bread counterpart.

These sandwiches make for good snacks but not as whole meals. That’s the difference since I came in already two dinners deep. Last time, I was ravenous!

The tomato soup was different in taste and consistency from other typical tomato soups. There was some kind of thickening agent that gave it a unique, grainy taste. A bean additive perhaps? It was a flavorful combination with the ham & cheese sandwich.

My favorite tomato bisque is from Andronico’s Market, also in the Sunset district in San Francisco. Once I spilled a cup of that soup all over the front of my sweater and thought, “what a terrible waste of my soup.” It was a sad day.

For a sweet ending, we got the earl grey pudding and the yogi tapioca pudding. The earl grey comes with either an almond or maple cookie.

Typically, puddings aren’t my thing but I LOVE A GOOD PANNA COTTA. Plus, what’s an adventure without trying some new flavors to long loved textures?
