First year of law school, there was a time where paying bills and taking a shower were the “fun” part of my day.
Now, I rush what used to be admittedly too long of a shower than was advisable in a drought conditioned area.
If I’m alone, I bathe my son then after he is warm and well-situated, rush to rinse while peeking out of the open shower & bathroom door to see his cooing face.
The first few weeks being home with baby was a time of fog. Matching the foggy skies outside, we lived in a little newborn bubble that was all ours.
Our insomnia was a new breed of exhaustion. After my partner returned to work, baby and I had to face the music. Sometimes it was just me and him.
Now we’re adjusted & happy with our little routine. But not that long ago (last night?), we were co-existing in a fog unique to newborns and their parents.
At least I don’t have to study anymore.
