Queen of Dim Sum

I didn’t realize how much I loved dim sum until I moved to Upstate NY. The dim sum variety was limited to a faraway location that only served the brunch favorite Sundays for a limited part of the day.

It broke my heart.

Promptly arriving in dim sum territory (anywhere that’s not Central NY), I like to dim sum often.

A new family go to, Shai Lai Seafood restaurant in the outer Richmond has good variety, flavors & mostly importantly, is Grandpa-approved.

We got too many dishes to name. Our family ordering style is to go over because the worst thing at dim sum is to not have enough food.

The highlights include a childhood special: sautéed liver. This dish has amazed me since I was a little girl dreaming about sliced liver. The way to live is to liver! (Okay, a stretch.)

We tried more of the special plates with beef & veggies, string beans & pork belly…

Three kinds of rice noodle dishes later, we were set.

Baby seems to appreciate our dim sum tradition as he is chill throughout the fest (he had his mini-fest during the meal too).

Time to dine, dim sum shines!
