“You know, I’m like one-eighth Filipino…”

No, I’m not.

But 10-year-old me desperately wanted to be. Growing up with Filipino friends, you just wanted So-En underwear from the Philippines & be one of the pinays.

Laughable now when I am comfortably in my own skin. But that doesn’t mean that Filipino food doesn’t still hold a dear place in my heart.

Exploring SSF, at Goldilocks I drooled over their baked goods until finally deciding on their savory options.

Pinakbet, a vegetable dish with pumpkin, orka & pork is tried and true. This coupled with their goat meat dish, kalderetang kambing, was a tasty end to the day.

The freshly fried tilapia was such a steal. It was $4.17 & Pacific Supermarket offers a free fish frying service. It’s like God wanted us to enjoy fried fish and made it so.

A little polvoron, or toasted wheat cake, ended the day sweetly.

All this helped me get over Dinosaur not having any bread.
