I have been eagerly anticipating the arrival of Pineapple King bakery ever since my dear Honeyberry left the scene.
It was a sad day when I discovered my beloved roti buns were gone.
I had only hoped they could be replaced by something as or at least nearly as delightful.
Today finally the grand opening of this bakery was amass with hungry people. The new staff was overwhelmed but courteous.
Their “hot buns” consist of pineapple puffs, pineapple buns with a sweet filling. I discovered that this filling was reminiscent of condensed milk. Sweet, sticky and a nice surprise. The crisp pineapple topping was fresh and crunchy. The bread was fairly unremarkable.
They also have a pineapple bun with butter that’s served warm.
The other bakery items like cakes, loaf breads, & other buns don’t seem to boast anything unique from the Sheng Kee bakery close by.
Good try Pineapples. You’re tasty, I would go back but certainly without the same fervor as I once did.
