Enter what’s touted as California’s best burger. Número uno.
4505 Burgers & BBQ holds my heart on a string. It’s on Divis, packed with sunshine, a farmer’s market & hipsters.
Even the sign is goregous. I have a thing for typography & beautifully constructed signage.
The burger is the bomb. I don’t revive middle school colloquialisms for nothing.
This is the burger to beat. You know how I feel about Shake Shack (ride or die, homies) but this burger is nothing to shutter at. Or rather, we shall shutter (photos, yo) but pictures don’t do justice to this exquisite creation.
The Han Solo. Only I call it that.
The bun: crispy, seseme seed covered, light & doesn’t overwhelm the star of the show, Mr. Patti Labelle.
The meat: grilled to a perfect medium rare (the only way to go).
The only problem is, it’s too good. It goes too fast. Guess that’s really my problem.
The double storm trooper is a better bet to get your fill. Again, nobody calls it that. That how I show love for my food.
Now, let’s talk barbeque.
This is what 4505 is known for & for good reason. The ribs fall off the bone. Their BBQ sauce is a must.
Our trio platter of meats choke full of sausage, brisket & pulled pork did not disappoint. The smokey flavor is well matched with the beautiful, sunny San Franciscan day.
Fried mac & cheese has always been a friend of mine. Fries are good (but I’m not much of a fries girl; meat please!).
A stroll through the farmer’s market revealed things so lovely, only nature can bring.
Persimmon perfection. Like an edible sand dollar.
Our sweet finish at Bi-rite boasted creme brûlée, earl grey, toffee coffee ice cream & my new favorite: green tea with spiced pecans in a sugar cone (of course).
This is a phenomenal flavor combination. In my years of Bi-rite eating experience, I have long awaited the day when I perfected my order. Here it is, in all its glory.
