Baby may look like he’s sleeping but that doesn’t mean he isn’t hungry.
This little guy wakes up after his midnight feeding at 4:30-5:30 a.m. for his sleepy breakfast.
I consider this to be “sleeping through the night”.
In the beginning, I prioritized breastfeeding because it’s very important to me that I try to exclusively do this.
Now I’m getting the hang of it, I want to just go on autopilot.
I realize that breastfeeding is both a marathon & a sprint.
You gotta go long distance (one year minimum is my goal, per the American Academy of Pediatric’s recommendation). And you have to have well established habits (& milk!) to get a good time in your sprint.
This is hard work.
Baby is thriving so well. Gaining weigh properly & just a general eater, I feel like I got the dream baby model.
But I’m a little tired. It is 5:48 a.m. Our decision not to give baby a pacificer has meant that baby is learning to pacify himself while feeding. That means long feeds.
Also, I’ve developed tendinitis in my left wrist. Sucks. Apparently this is a common new parent thing because the thumb is used to stabilize while holding & picking up baby, hundred of times a day.
I’m not complaining. Okay, maybe a little. Hey moms & dads! Don’t give up. It’s just one tired day & night.
It ain’t over until the kid graduated high school, goes to a pretigious college & changes our diapers. Karma is coming for you, child.
