The irony

This kid is getting so big. A picture of his budding size is captured above.

Babies are ironic. When they are tired, they expend extra energy to whine, toss, kick you until all of their reserves are dry and then after running on fumes for a while longer… Finally pass out.

At least my kid is like this.

Every night he fights with me & terrorizes the already agonizing pain of my tendonitis. Before when my c-section area was still healing, he would kick tirelessly. I, in my naivety, allowed him to kick which I suspect resulted in my scar reopening, requiring re-stitching.

I hardly ever complain (publicly) about the darkside of parenting. It is usually fun & certainly rewarding.

What of this mommyhood that reminds me of work is that you have to be on your A-game. Because if you slip up, you’re going to have to pay.

On a lighter note, let’s talk food. Today was a day of poor dietary choices. Indian for lunch. Doesn’t sound bad but it was heavy on the rice & naan (my fault). I should eat a vegetable.

Snack time looked like I just got out of middle school. Quickly for egg puffs, taro milk slush with coffee jelly & a popcorn/teriyaki chicken bowl. Again nothing green in sight.

I suppose the silver lining in all of this is we have tomorrow to try again. Try to be patient, try to be gentle & forgiving. Who else can we turn to if not ourselves to show the compassion we need to thrive? Be kind if you can. Certainly don’t cause harm if nothing else.

Finally the kid has passed out. Still a win for tonight.
