The thick of it

Ah, yes it has happened. I am losing my mind slowly. A constant occurrence of misplacing things. Trust nothing to me if you want to see it again.

In other news, Eggsy sat in his stroller WITHOUT HIS CARSEAT! To the outside world this means perhaps nothing. To the new parent, this is an exciting development of growth, head control & ultimately, the young one’s independence.

First, let me tell you about a meal that took a turn for the worst. At Tai Wu in Millbrae, the wait is long, the service is spotty & the food… is just okay.

The only dim sum place with a egg white custard with a pastry puff (that I know of). What was a delight to receive, turned out to be lacking. The custard was lukewarm & the pastry was too thick. And I love pastry.

The steamed bun with running egg yolk was good. Maybe because we ate this first. Hot, oily & definitely runny.

This is the dish that did us in. Our dear fried Chinese donut wrapped in rice noodle. We simply had too many treats at what was supposed to be lunch & we paid for it with sore tummies.

The dumplings were quite good. Stuffed with meat, mushrooms & veg. The pig’s feet wasn’t so great though.

Cooked in a plum sauce as opposed to the black vinegar like my grandma used to make. Overall, a somewhat pleasant experience tainted by our zeal in consuming too much indulgent food. Our mistake.

Thankfully later we snacked on things that weren’t just brown. Masu in San Mateo provides an oasis for the tired ones. The baked Lion King roll was a hit. Their crab meat is sweet.

Eggsy is getting gianormous. Look, this is just his head. Incredible.

We both eat like champs. This guy isn’t going to stop growing anytime soon. Watch out, world!
