Canada hates babies

Okay maybe hate is a strong word.

Today we got up at 3am to catch our 6:30am flight to Vancouver to discover the information from the U.S. Dept of State stating babies can travel to & from Canada with a birth certificate, sans passport, is misleading.

The Canadian consulate begs to differ. Baby & I didn’t get on board but instead shuttled our packed bags, car seat, & stroller home.

Eggsy was in a drowsy state & I was still happy thinking we were taking baby on his first trip out of the country.

Perhaps it was serendipitous. For I discovered what I suspect is my new favorite cafe.

Cassava in the Outer Richmond has been on my hit list since the other misfortunes in the dental department have occurred.

To taste this beautiful duck liver mousse, it was maybe worth all the trouble of booking car rentals, parking, shuttles & such. Okay not really, but it was really delicious.

The flavors are perfectly paired. Sweet symphony of texture on warmed bread.

I was continually pleased with their roasted vegetables with poached egg. White rice with pesto. That’s a new one for me. It’s good. Delicately sliced veggies. The nourishment I needed.

Their turkey sandwich looks like something we cook up at home. Tasty but not nearly as incredible as its duck counterpart.

Perhaps I’ve had a stroke of bad luck lately, but I am resisting the urge to be negative.

Our family & friends surround us joyously. Just a little rain never hurt anyone. We are in a drought here in California afterall.

This little guy didn’t even know what he missed! Quite alright, many other adventures to be had.

Safe journey family abroad! Wish we were joining you. Have some poutine for us.
