The little things

May’s wish list

Reflecting from yesterday’s meeting, I realize May could use a lot of tools to help her learn & grow. Here’s her (educational) wish list:

  • iPad. I know, that’s big. Kids these days are stuck on their parents’ phone & iPads. May doesn’t get to be stuck on one because she doesn’t have one. All the teachers & therapists are convinced that a computer or an iPad could greatly assist May in watching educational videos & facilitate learning.
  • Educational DVDs. May loves her Disney & Pixar movies (thanks uncle Mikey!) but she needs more learning based videos.
  • A working DVD player. May spilled water on the one she has & now can’t watch anything!
  • Books. Statistically, reading is the single most important skill for elementary school children. Need to have books to foster a lifelong love of reading.
  • A library card. I tried to get one yesterday while May was still in school but after trying to pose as a five year old, the librarian figured out I wasn’t the library card applicant. Gotta bring the kid next time.
  • Play doh. May’s physical therapist recommends that May continues to work on building muscle & tendon strength. Play doh serves an important function in helping to develop those strengths. Funny that a “toy” actually is useful!

I’m hoping I can enlist the help of our loving family & friends to get everyone on board to help our sweet May. Every kid deserve the tools they need to learn. May is no exception. Help a young flower bloom & blossom!
