The big deal

Get out of my head

Amami is like seeing my dreams IRL.

When I see sushi in my mind, it looks like this:

Beautiful, fresh, vibrant, stunning. (Aka seared toro with uni.) This is the epitome of perfection. Each piece costs a sandwich. Incredible.
The agedashi tofu is different & good. Not the soupy kind I’m used to (& adore). The sauce is just right in amount & sweetness. Perfectly crisp.

The baked scallop is dreamy (creamy?). I loved baked rolls. I just love rolls. Japan was slightly disappointing in this way.

The “melted in the mouth” (toro, unagi) roll was also a champion. Amami just does everything good. I know the omakase is the go-to, but I cannot resist the flavor & variety of the non-nigiri. I don’t care if that makes me a sushi insophisticate. I know what I like; that’s important.

Baby was so good with grandma. He’s basically all of our shining star. How could I not utterly, blissfully be in love with you, little one?

Here he is, getting ready for his birthday. He’s turning one, you know. It’s kind of a big deal.
