Raining cats & dogs over here. Okay, it did for a few moments. I’m feeling really technologically inclined with use of apps for grocery shopping. Curbside helps me to order food & such with it packed & put into my car. Pretty awesome.
Big thanks to my mom & brother for watching baby. We are ever blessed by our family. My mom is my rock.
Baby took a little bike ride, braving the rain. Celebrating a bounty of birthdays this weekend. Special treats galore. I counted at least six different cakes for one person alone. That’s what happens when I’m in charge.
Not a cake but foie gras from Cafe Bastille. A tiny, cute cafe with flavorful food.
The French onion soup is a little sweet. Ah, the surprising onion! Like a loaded baked potato, it is full of cheese, bread & of course, the witty onion (reference to the satirical writings).
I like the decor & ambiance here. Very intimate feel with bold taste. A kind of beef stew for me & mushroom fettuccini for him.
A rich dish similar to what HB made recently. Perfect for a cold day. I like his noodles too. I’m really into the fungus these days.
Earlier in the day, we tried Park Tavern after waiting in the Mamas line for a few beats. Fresh focaccia with tomato sauce from next door as prelunch snack.
The deviled eggs are a small tasty bite. I could probably eat like 15 easily. Bacon & jalapeño give it some bite.
I was hoping for breakfast but it was a Friday. Guess we’re a day early for brunch. We tried the havest salad & Marlowe burger. Both good but 4505 still has my vote for best burger in the 415.
Impeccable service at Park Tavern, gotta give them that. Some North Beach hospitality. Rich carrot cake that we barely dented. I noticed at least two mother/daughter pairs dining. Hope to a pair like that one day.
So juice. Huh. $6.5 a bottle. Made me feel kind of loopy & wishing I spent that on a cheesesteak instead. I won’t be juicing or doing any cleanses, ever. I like to eat my food & not miss a meal.
Pumpkin sushi at our new self proclaimed Japanese spot. Goodbye Yum yum fish, hello Tazaki sushi. Scallops & salmon.
Baby has the Lion King roll for its baked salmon is fitting. We ate some too.
The halibut is interesting & good (left). Walu (right) makes us happy. We all love salmon.
Seared salmon is always a win. Now I’m hungry for more. They have sizzling platters here. Of butterfish! I resisted for the greater good of nigiri.
Baby is still lovin’ the swing life.
Basically the best moment of his life. Pretty magical when you can do something so simple & be so blissfully beside yourself. I remember saying in a philosophy class how happier we’d be if we just went outside, played & had some ice cream.
Everything in moderation. Including moderation. Someone said that. After too many indulgences, I want plain, wholesome food. That is life; the continuity of fallen & attempted balance. I think I need a bike.
Macklemore is my favorite rapper. His music reminds me of Seattle which is the land of Smee. Miss her.
Happy birthday Pisces! If we’re eating in your honor, cheers to your good health, happiness & perpetual balance.
