There is a restaurant called Lychee Cafe that my family used to like to go to. Chinese food. Homely. They’ve moved into a bigger space & have lost some of their following.
I like them still. One night I picked up take out & chatted with the owner, a nice, older woman who is small but is the kind of person who gets things done. You can tell these things.
It pained me to hear that with a larger space comes the inevitable heighten costs of running a business. My heart pulls for them & I vow to eat there more, get my family back in there & in general, wish good things to help a small local business survive.
There are so many things that are unfair. People that put everything they have into something that just doesn’t work out. Since I enjoy my food so much, I hate losing a place I’ve come to love. This isn’t my favorite place but it could be.
Tomato beef, like what I ate as a kid. My brother’s favorite dish is this with crispy noodles.
Eggplant is good for babies because of the soft texture. The spiciness challenges baby but he bravely tries.
There are a lot of options for food. From groceries to take out, we fortunately have a lot of choice. I hope we’ll choose wisely to support local businesses to provide nourishment for ourselves & our families.
