You like beef

I am various shades of discontent right now. Currently unsettled over differing discipline techniques. I will fiercely protect him.  Kids do drive a person mad sometimes. Hitting as a means of discipline is ineffective. This is not the kind of power dynamic I want to impress on my child.  Secondly, I am upset over wasted time. I do not like being lied to or mislead. Do not bloody waste my time.  My new shift in…

Grills

We’ve been exploring again. IKEA trip with the family. Meatballs & ribs for all.  We finish up in Bay Street to discover there’s Buckhorn Grill as a stand alone eatery here.  My Roadhouse salad is astonishingly large. I’m quite pleased. Enough fried shoestring onions for a week. Or in our case, a meal.  Mikey’s char grilled tri tip was good but not bloody enough for my liking.    More onions, of course.    Mom’s the…

The Purge

“I do believe in simplicity. It is astonishing as well as sad how many trivial affairs even the wisest thinks he must attend to in a day; how singular an affair he thinks he must omit. When the mathematician would solve a difficult problem, he first frees the equation of all encumbrances, and reduces it to its simplest terms. So simplify the problem of life, distinguish the necessary and the real. Probe the earth to…

The big deal

11 strong

Eggsy is 11 months today! It is flying.  As they say, the days are long but the year(s) are short.  It certainly feels like a short first year. We’ve had crazy days, some calm moments, a lot of joy & glimpses of frustration.  Thank goodness for grandmas. They are magical. Grandpas too. Baby’s grandmothers are especially wonderful, nurturing & saviors. I don’t have a robust enough vocabulary to accurately describe our gratitude for our mothers. …

Baby firsts

Halloweenie

Baby’s first Halloween was a reminder that baby don’t care! We took Miss May & Eggsy to the mall to do some trick or treating.  Eggsy’s lion costume was too hot so he was stripped. May didn’t much like being a ladybug & refused to wear her costume too.    She did however want to sit in the baby’s stroller. C’est la vie.  It was a little bit of a roller coaster, getting the kiddies…

Zulu

I learned the phonetic alphabet tonight. I’m feeling quite accomplished. We had to enter our pile of huggies & pampers codes (finally). We can almost get one magazine subscription with our points.  We tried Kazu sushi the other night & discovered that though they have good tasting & inventive rolls, their cleanliness standard is appalling. (Cockroach sighting. I know; sad face.)  Anyhoo, I digress. The unagi/cream cheese combo roll (above) was pretty good. I could…

T-time

Lovejoy’s. Very likely my favorite tea room in San Francisco. Thanks to little sister, we got to have peppermint & mango tea (separately) with our Queen’s tea.  Eggsy had a ball nomming on watermelon, tea sandwiches & other delights.    Somewhere along the way, my mom became my BFF. I still love my friends that are my age, but for us, this kiddo has evolved our relationship to the next level. It is exceptionally lovely.  …

Do it for love

Congrats to our beautiful friends Ly & Ricky for tying the knot! Their reception at Palmsdale Estates was gorgeous & encapsulated their love stunningly.  Table 22 turnt up. I think I used that phrase right (we were loud).  The food was off the hook. Do people still say that? Yeah, we like beef.    Buffets where everyone isn’t shy to let loose (their pants). The fish (left) was soft so baby got to enjoy it…

Nopabebe

The wee ones dined at Nopalito for some bomb Mexican food. This family friendly establishment had delicious sangria & cheese quesadillas for the simple diner (i.e., 12 y/o & under).  The empanadas (above) were more like tacos with a crispy shell. Delicious, favorful & colorful.  Tamales were yummy though I think the questionable ones from someone’s car in the parking lot are equally delicious. We tried the soup with Nopalito’s own spices & tortilla chips…

HBD

SMITY TURNS 24! Horray, little sister is not so little anymore.  Beyond estastic for your birthday. When someone you love gets older, it kind of feels like your birthday too. That’s why I’m going to eat dessert for breakfast. Just for you, Smity.  Hope you get everything you wish for, in time. Be patient, young heart, it’s all coming. Or not. You’ll have to live with that too. Regardless, it’s a brilliant life & mine…
