Peter Pan

When my sister was little, she had a crush on a little boy named Peter.  Today we tried Super Pan. The pepper beef sizzles. We have fond memories of Pepper lunch in Japan so we go here.  This place is okay. A little more pepper & salt help it. Double the beef with half the rice would make us happier.  Baby had rice, a little sauce & little pieces of beef.  The dessert was quite…

Too hot to trot

Ever ambitious, I was so tempted by Oriental Kitchen’s atomic challenge. Good thing I reeled back because one piece of the second tier Maui Volcano roll had me hurtin’.  The roll consisted of spicy tuna & pineapple. Nothing too strange there. The Maui volcano sauce is the doozy.  That mess is hot (for me).  Conquerors of the 4 levels of heat get their picture on the wall. I don’t know why I thought I could…

Sweets

Dreamy

The kid won’t let me get up. Morning nursies are his fave. As are nighttime nursies.  Can’t really deny the kid because when his little hands are pressed against me, the world just crumbles.  Motherhood is dramatic. The love is fierce, overwhelming & all consuming.  This is what it feels like to wear your heart on your sleeve (and have it crawl around everywhere, touching everything). L’amour.

Gratitude

Heartfelt

A grateful heart for all that is & all that is to come. Living into the notion of truly wanting what you have.  I share my peace, love & energy openly & warmly. Those that are given the strength & grace must share their gift.  A quote I saw (paraphrased):  Pleasure is best enjoyed with others.  How true. A meal spent with loved ones. A walk. Life’s wonderous & rocky waves. How well spent life…

The big deal

Get out of my head

Amami is like seeing my dreams IRL.  When I see sushi in my mind, it looks like this:   Beautiful, fresh, vibrant, stunning. (Aka seared toro with uni.) This is the epitome of perfection. Each piece costs a sandwich. Incredible.    The agedashi tofu is different & good. Not the soupy kind I’m used to (& adore). The sauce is just right in amount & sweetness. Perfectly crisp.    The baked scallop is dreamy (creamy?). I…

The best day

Basically I’m the luckiest girl. A special lunch with Cordy at Samovar. Been wanting to try this tea spot for so long. I don’t get downtown (cue Macklemore) much anymore. But when I do? Oh, it’s good.  The butternut squash dumplings are oh-so-yummy. Silky squash squashed in there. Our tea selection was grand: caffeinated for him, herbal for me.    Duck, scallion waffle FTW. You know how I feel about butter (love!). Big, impressive chunks of…

Achy Breaky

Sicky

Poor babe had a fever last night. Ain’t nobody happy when baby is sick.  Luckily, team Mom & Dad are well equipped & expertly dosed him with infant Tylenol (which he mostly spit out). This morning, he’s running warm but not in fever territory. I spied a little upper tooth wanting to make an appearance! Both a horray & a little sadness over his (wonderful) inevitable growth.    You were all smiles earlier before we…

Frozen

PC: ST Last night I had the delectable experience of eating frozen cheesecake.  Turns out, I really, really like this.  I like how the richness of the cheesecake is intensified with chucks of icy, creamy goodness.  I eat it layer by layer, until it’s all gone.  In other news, praying for Paris. Unimaginable: the plight terror brings. Praying for families, praying for recovery, praying for unity.

The little things

Gearing up

Time to get ready! It’s almost Eggsy’s first birthday! We’re so excited about it.  We’ve got lots of ideas & we have to put things into action soon. The holidays have got me in great spirits!  Yesterday, we serendipitously found baby’s first dentist. Perfect for those two teeth. Sometimes things fall together so nicely.  Of course, sometimes things fall apart so disasterously too. Never mind that.  We had tea with our lovely friend Kristin & had…

Nostalgia

Old time feel

Last night I discovered for the first time what others have known for some time.  Bill’s Place on Clement in a diamond in the rough. Boasting the decor of days gone by, this place has chandeliers & good burgers.  We sit next to a Robin Williams signed poster that says, “[t]he best place to eat meat!” Oh I miss you Genie & you’re right about the meat.  My medium rare third pound patty melt is…
