Sweet six

Eggsy is six months today! My, how time flies.  First the newborn flurry. Now the sweet lullaby of tummy time, minor bumps on the head from trying new acrobats & the mess of mushy foods.  Funny how this little being changes everything.  The analogy of having a child is like discovering a new room in a house you’ve always lived in rings true.  Only I stay in this room 98% of the time. It’s okay;…

Reminisce

Photo Credit: ST Eggsy & Co went to Baby Ruth’s red egg & ginger party at Golden Palace restaurant in SSF.  He was adored and admired by many. So much so that he quickly fell into a slumber for the rest of the party.  Reminiscing about the good ole days of music festivals & flowers in our hair. My Jeany knows the power of the ring. This year we won’t be attending Outside Lands; the…

Banana powered

The time has come for Eggsy to try his first fruit.  In Nubi’s mesh bag food feeder, baby tasted his first banana. Pretty sure he liked it.   He munched through the mesh like a zombie eating for his life.  So far he has tolerated or liked everything we’ve introduced to him. Better expand his palate now before he becomes choosier.  Mesh bag: good. Cleanup: eh. Lots of little nook & crannies. Worth it considering…

Usin that noggin

Eggsy fed himself with a spoon today. He is five months & four days old.  Babies don’t do this until after their first birthday. Allegedly.  First for straight avo, too. Hold the breastmilk mom. I got this. (The impression Eggsy gave me.) I wonder what else this kid can do. I want him to go to Xaiver’s School for Gifted Youngsters. But he’s not an X-Men; he’s more like a pre-man.    Eggsy looks like he’s…

Happy five

The start of a fabulous eating career. Baby did great in his first official solid food: oatmeal. Though mixed with breastmilk & quite runny, this still constitutes as his first “solid.”   Kid did great in his Bumbo chair & exceeded my expectations on how much he would eat. I made a small portion to start, heeding his ped’s warning of not expecting baby to take spoonfuls in the beginning.  Well, he took many spoonfuls &…

Cloud nine

Oh yeah. Here goes another gem to go on baby’s Stanford admissions essay.  The kid fed himself naan tonight at a tender four months. He deftly pinched a piece of naan and deliberately stuffed said naan into his face.  Grandma & I squealed with delight. The random stop at Naan & Curry at Serramonte mall was the best decision of the night.  The lamb curry was quite good. A hint of spice even grandma could…

Zoo adventure

Photo credit: KM Baby was all abundle for his first zoo adventure!  Quite the chilly day, so we were dressed to the nines in puffy & leather coats.  Basically baby slept through the first and last part of the trip. He did manage to cry quite a bit in the middle despite the various signs posted for guests to shh.  Most pictures of baby look like this:  My fear of sun exposure and of the…

Tea for two

Well, one really. The little one takes milk in his tea, sans tea.    Look at this little chap. Content on my lap for most of tea time at Secret Garden.  The Bedford is perfect for me because it ensures the most food. That’s important.  Little tea sandwiches which I calculated as exactly two sandwiches which are cut into eight little ones.   My favorite is the the one with vanilla cheese.    Had I known…

Gussied up

Beautiful day in Northern California. Simply gorgeous weather, likely thanks to global warming.  A lovely afternoon with the parentals with a delicious lunch with my pal Calm.   He’s so great. He eats salad. I had a gyro. Oh man, I’ve been wanting a gyro for centuries.    Daphne, a California Greek eatery, has a nice calming (get it?) ambiance. Plus, they play good music. Empire of the Sun wished us a good rest of…

Future Olympian

It’s official: baby is a genius. This morning baby expertly plucked (sorry for the gory details) my nursing pad out of uh, where it usually goes, mid-breakfast.  Baby is four months (twenty weeks, to be precise) & he can grasp. GASP! Developmentally, babies garner this skill usually between nine to twelve months. Clearly, this is a gifted child.  Every parent probably thinks their child is a genius (rightfully so). But mine really is.  Seeing this…
