Good life

Good progress in the life department. Finding new support in the motherhood unit & I am so glad. I’m thinking of ways to contribute as I am so grateful. Also Sushi Zen on Taraval is surprisedly great. Lazy summer roll. (Yes it was.)  Pasta at Olive Garden. Baby likey. I like how a lot of older people come here. It’s also good for babies. Spacious = stroller friendly.   Ice cream sundae NOT for baby.…

10

Reflecting on 10 things I am grateful for. A goofy, smiling, unstoppable force of a child.  My health & the good health of my family & friends.  The bonds of family & friends that stand the test of time & distance.  Laughter.  Forgiveness of self for imperfections.  A drive to keep trying. Roadblocks are opportunities.  The future: a chance to try again & to practice.  Loyalty. Focusing on what matters & staying true to these…

Praise the lord!

I’m not a religious person. Tonight when I stepped into the ER per my doctor’s instructions after a severe & somewhat sudden headache at 2:30 a.m. this morning, I told the receptionist I was Christian when asked my religious preference.  I grew up in a Christian family, went to church fairly regularly & had a lot of fellowship. I liked it when it was fellowship at a restaurant. It’s been a long time since my…

Many celebrations of birthdays this month! Amazing Allen on the 10th, dear Calmsy on the 12th, & my pops on the 14th. August is a busy month. Happy birthday to Ricky & Ricky too!  Baby’s been keeping me busy in many ways. I’ve been challenged by my motherhood role. I thought I was getting sick (I was) & considered a late onset of PPD (unsure).  It has been a whirlwind of steak, cheesecake & baby…

The nectar

I have the best people around me. My two lovely girls, Romy & Caro, helped me celebrate another rotation around the sun.  I’ve been dying to try Izakaya Sozai forever. This is not a baby-friendly place: it is small, cramped, with loud music & quite warm inside. There is always a wait.  But the food! Oh, it is so good. We were also celebrating two decades of friendship too.  My favorites were the ramen, tuna…

Cheese day

I turned 31 & it was awesome. An impromptu dim sum date with my mom, dad, brother, baby & Calmsy at King Wah turned into a theatrical experience. Lovely to be with my special ones & Calm got me beautiful yellow roses! Thanks pal. We’ve been friends a decade plus & I love you so. All the young’uns got there first so we had to bide our time before the knowing ones arrived to order…

Sweetness

Pulling Eggsy’s size four diapers to investigate if they fit his almost 19 pound frame, I am overcome with a feeling of gratitude.  The space to choose a size for your baby’s diapering needs, buy more if needed or desired is a gift. We recently went diaper crazy & ordered what we hoped to be all or most of the rest of baby’s diapers for the rest of his diapering career. This is clearly a…

A prayer

Whatever beings there are, may they be free from suffering. Whatever beings there are, may they be free from enmity. Whatever beings there are, may they be free from hurtfulness. Whatever beings there are, may they be free from ill health. Whatever beings there are, may they be able to protect their own happiness.  –Karen Connelly, The Lizard Cage  For the first time since baby’s arrival, I’ve poured over a new book. Not instructions from his…

Intention

Having a family is challenging. Being married is too.  I have three intentions for my family & I. Simple goals to focus on to build on the integrity & strength of our relationships.  For my son. Be present. It’s easy to be distracted while taking care of the little guy & sometimes you have to be. But a lot of the time you don’t have to be. I’ll try to maximize our time together by…

A mama can dream

Tonight I told Eggsy a story of an obedient little boy who went to Stanford medical school. This boy later found the cure for numerous chronic health conditions & healed his aging parents.  Also known as: my fantasy. Such a busy schedule lately! Yesterday we had much theatrics at the dentist & the finding of a new orthodontist. Guess who’s a teenager again! Me soon. Sigh.  We bid farewell to good friends at my old…
