Sunday Gratitude

Feeling lovely this Sunday. Birds chirping outside & a snuggle bug on my arm.  Been focusing on all the wonderful people in my life.  A spontaneous dumpling stop with an old friend yields happy bellies. A King of Noodle visit leads us to our first time trying fresh noodles without meat.    Lots of tomato, mushrooms, & cucumber. Doesn’t feel like it’s missing a thing!  Our green onion pancake & chicken chivin’ dumplings are delicious…

Puppy days

Eggsy is growing at an alarming rate. He is crawling everywhere. Getting into everything. It is fun, seeing his bemusement.  I learned this morning that breast milk changes daily based on the needs of baby. How exceptional are our bodies? Baby’s body communicates with mine to determine what pathogens exist so I can prepare the right antibodies for his defense. Completely & utterly miraculous.  I’m in love, naturally. Our biology makes our bond undeniable. I feel…

A day with the roses

A perfect day yesterday with dim sum with family & a walk through San Francisco’s rose garden.     Baby looks up to Tai Guang. My grandpa has the best taste in dim sum. My family always gets the gai lan for me. It’s the staple dim sum vegetable.  Instead of a plate of liver (our usual), we got the liver rice noodle. This is superb. The liver at this Outer Richmond establishment is tender, moist…

Eggsy

Due to my child’s perfectly egg shaped head, I will refer to him here as Eggsy.  Also I watched the Kingsmen recently.  A nice day cruising at home to catch up on our domestic duties. Laundering for the young and adults in our home.  A healthy snack consisted of tuna salad in avocado.     Eggsy likes avocado. This is perhaps his third solid. Mixed in a breastmilk cocktail, he enjoyed some last night &…

The weight of a cherub

Baby has cleared the 16 pound mark! We think.  First time baby “steps onto” the scale himself.   Demonstrating a 15.8 weightage. But when mom or dad hold him, he’s 16.4-16.6 pounds. Sounds like baby Michelin is a heavy hitter.  This is how I pre-game before breakfast.   What you don’t see is the salami. Very important detail.  Baby is growing like a weed probably because I’m practically a pro eater. Dim sum yesterday and…

Teething woes

Mochi after a tough afternoon of teething. Pineapple, mango & durian. Not too soft of mochi from Sun Maxim but still a nice treat.  Predinner at Lam’s for some roast duck & chicken.   Long line out the door for pickup, as usual. Some egg & shrimp too.    The mommies scarf. Trick for double dinner is to dine with multiple people so that when everyone else is on dinner number one, you are already…

No indian today, mom

Found a new Indian food spot in Albany but baby wasn’t about it.  I nursed the little babe in the car hoping to settle him so I could eat or at least grab some take out.  But nope. Baby says no. Cry, cry, cry. Good thing I have emergency snacks in the car because mama famished! Breastfeeding hunger is no joke. Do not starve your mamas! I will eat my child’s cheeks; rest assure he…

Darkside

Poor little baby is feverish after his vaccinations yesterday.  A little hot potato.  Our afternoon plans were derailed after baby insisted on staying home. There is no wellness when your baby is not feeling good.  A quick meal, thanks to Amy. A freezer staple thanks to my nutritionalist while I was pregnant. I bought them, I just never ate them (much to the dismay of HB).  Finally it’s time as our fridge is looking thin…

Out of the woods

A moment today I couldn’t help but to think that I’m finally out of the woods. The newborn stage: no sleep, feeding around the clock with a tender little baby thing.  He’s cleared the newborn stage for some time now but today was a clear reckoning of that realization.  He has sturdiness to him. Toughness too, even.  The messages marketed for little boys exemplifies this: blue, tough, mud. All this is okay with me… As…
