Best day ever

I am continually impressed by the people around me. My dear friends, in what I thought was a causal outing, turned out to be an early birthday celebration for me!  We ate to our heart’s content at Limon in the Mission. The mixed ceviche was delicious & ordered four times for our party of eight girls. Excuse me, women.  The truffle mac & cheese and the queso empanadas were divine. I adore cheese.  We had…

Happy birthday Jase!

Happy birthday to Jason who turns 31 this Tuesday!     For us, it means crab! At PPQ, we feast on roasted crabs & peppercorn crab. Of course he has so many friends, he needs two tables to hold us all! The peppercorn crab was the standout star. I suspect because it is fried, it retains the hot, hot heat so it is cracklelacking steamy fresh.  The garlic noodles are always chewy, buttery goodness. We…

And then she’s gone

Little sister flew the nest yesterday. Selfishly, I am sad to see her go but thrilled for her new life among the Space Needle.  The night before she left, I tried to coax her into having dinner but to avail. Without her, we had King of Noodle where baby had his first taste of hand pulled noodles.   The chewy consistency gave his gums something to naw on. Of course dumplings are a must.  …

Celebrating mom

In an early celebration of our mama’s birthday, we took her on a champagne brunch cruise & to a quick getaway in Napa Valley.  First, we had a wonderful first 4th of July with friends.   Jeany’s ribs were on fleek. Fall off the bone irresistible.    We enjoyed the fireworks in Foster City… Though the noise was a bit much for baby. Hopefully he can still hear.   The next morning, we were all…

Happy graduation Miss May!

Carnitas pizza from our beloved Nordy cafe for our darling May’s graduation from preschool.     Welcome to Kinder come August, dear child. You’ve move mountains, naturally.  The graduation was short & sweet, just like the nine graduates. Like the Justices of the Supreme Court, nine they were.  We had pizza post ceremony with the kiddies & again with pasta dishes after some perusing around shops.  This girl has overcome so much & will conquer more…

Hello equality!

Such sweet news the Supreme Court shares with us this joyous Friday.  Marriage equality for all.  It’s about time. Love is love, after all.  I’m overjoyed that my son will grow up in a world where our nation recognizes marriage because two people are in love. That’s it. No qualifiers of gender or sexual identification.  This solidifies what marriage means to me and the sacred union between two.  Our world is improving. Slowly and surely.…

Congrats to the Phus!

A memorable night at Tank 18 in the city last night. Big Congrats to Tony & Jen on tying the knot!  A beautiful venue with glittering lights & a wide open space to house all the family & friends that love this couple.  My mission: try all of the offerings from the food trucks at the wedding.  Chairman Bao & a mysterious taco truck (mysterious to me, anyways) was omnipresent. A spot by the door…

The graduate

Go Romy! My dear friend graduated & it was monumental.  She’s a stunner. This girl is beautiful everywhere.  How applauding her achievements deserve to be! We are so proud of you. I’m honored to attend your graduation & watch you walk across that platform. And how clever of you to wear boots! It is San Francisco after all.  The graduate’s celebratory meal at Shanghai Dumpling House in Glen Park was a delight. Aside from the…

Champagne Sunday

Look at the butterscotch pot de creme. Cliffhouse’s champagne brunch buffet is gorgeous & delicious.  My charming sister took us to a fanciful feast for brunch where we dined, drank (not much) & dined some more.  Here is plate one of many:  My attempt to take photos of the actual buffet was shot down given the number of other hungry buffet goers. C’est la vie.  Baby did great occilating between the arms of dad, mom,…

The Presidential

Finally.  My previous attempt to get four people to share the six person presidential at 4505 BBQ & Burgers was a fail.  But now! But now six hungry girls squeezed into a small wooden bench outside in 57 degree weather surround the platter of brisket, ribs, chicken tenders & other succulent meats.    Luckily the girls were on board to have burgers too.     Aren’t my friends awesome? Yes, they are. Truly California’s best…
